The Prior Lake girls’ soccer team closed out the regular season with two convincing South Suburban Conference victories to build momentum heading into the section playoffs.
On Monday, Sept. 29, the Lakers celebrated Senior Night in style, rolling past Farmington 6–1 behind a balanced offensive effort. Lauren Schindler, Kendall Young, Teagan Jurek, Bre Phillips, Ellie Ohlmann and Bella Cavallaro all found the back of the net, with Cavallaro and Young each scoring their first goals of the season. Gianna Stiehm, Jurek and Lilly Oelrich provided assists, while defender Kendall Young earned Player of the Game honors for her strong two-way play.
Two days later, Prior Lake capped the regular season with a 5–2 road win over Eastview. After falling behind early and entering halftime tied 1–1, the Lakers responded with an explosive second half. Jurek recorded a hat trick to earn Player of the Game honors, while Ohlmann added two goals. Ali Torres and Schindler each tallied two assists, helping fuel the Lakers’ second-half surge.
With the back-to-back victories, Prior Lake finished the regular season at 10–5–1 overall and 5–3 in conference play, earning fourth place in the tough South Suburban Conference. The Lakers now enter the Section 2AAA playoffs as the No. 4 seed, hosting No. 5 Shakopee on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
It’s a tough section, featuring three state top-10 teams—Minnetonka, Chanhassen and Edina — but Prior Lake has already shown they can compete with them, owning a win over Edina and narrow losses to both Minnetonka and Chanhassen earlier in the season.
